Notice of Annual General Meeting of Moray Fresh Start SCIO

To be held on Thursday 18 June 2020 at 10.30 am
at Moray Fresh Start SCIO Store, Unit 10, Elgin Business Centre,
Maisondieu Road, Elgin, IV30 1QP

The Covid-19 pandemic has created exceptional circumstances for everyone and also impacts upon the governance of charities in Scotland. The Scottish Government has issued guidance about social distancing and OSCR (Scottish Charity Commissioners) and others have issued guidance specifically relating to the governance of charities. Taking these into account as well as the personal circumstances of the officers and committee of Moray Fresh Start, the committee have decided to hold the Annual General Meeting at the Moray Fresh Start store, but taking all appropriate precautions which will include social distancing. Attendance by people other than the committee is not practically possible.

This will be a very limited meeting which will nevertheless comply with the requirements of the law and the Constitution and will enable the necessary functions to be dealt with.

The committee wants to make sure that the same information is available as in normal times, and that questions are dealt with properly. Interested parties are invited to request copies of the Agenda, the examined accounts for the year ending 31 December 2019, as well as details of other business carried out at the AGM.

If you have questions which you would like to be addressed at the AGM, please email them to contact@morayfreshstart.org.uk by 10 June 2020 so that they can be included under AOCB and you will be sent an email reply.

It is difficult moving from homelessness into a new tenancy. There are lots of things to buy at a time when money won’t stretch. Friends and family usually play a vital role helping out with basic essentials. But what if you don't have friends and family close by to rely on? Many tenancies fail in the early stages because people simply can’t buy the basic essentials that help turn a house into a home.

We support homeless people moving into a new tenancy in Moray by providing a pack of basic household items that help make a new beginning.

We also support other people in times of need, such as coming home from hospital or other emergency situation, if they are referred to us.

In order to be able to do this we arrange fundraising events but cash donations are also most welcome. Any donation, no matter how small, enables us to buy new items we need to replenish stock.

For example -

£30 buys a set of small electrical items e.g. Kettle, Toaster and Iron

£150 funds a full starter pack

Cleaning materials and items such as toilet and kitchen rolls are also gratefully accepted.

If you would like to donate to our organisation, please contact us on the number provided or on our Facebook page.
