Welcome to Moray Fresh Start

CORONAVIRUS 2021 Donations of goods

Unfortunately we cannot accept donations of goods as from 5 January 2021 and until further notice as we are all trying to limit the spread of the virus.

We are sorry to have to refuse your generous offers and we will re-open to accept donations when permitted.

This is as a consequence of the announcement of the Scottish Government which took effect on 5 January 2021.

We continue to supply Starter Packs as before.

Of course, if you would like to support us with a financial donation, we would welcome that! Just contact us on contact@morayfreshstart.org.uk

The Committee

Mary Nelson, BEM

We are delighted that Mary Nelson, our recent past chairman, has been recognised with the honour of the British Empire Medal in the 2021 Queen's New Year Honour list.

All who came into contact with Mary recognised her tireless work and commitment to Moray Fresh Start and its purposes.

James Workman, Chairman

Helping Our Homeless

It is difficult moving from homelessness into a new tenancy. There are lots of things to buy at a time when money won’t stretch. Friends and family usually play a vital role helping out with basic essentials. But what if you don't have friends and family close by to rely on? Many tenancies fail in the early stages because people simply can’t buy the basic essentials that help turn a house into a home.

We support people who have been homeless and are moving into a new tenancy in Moray by providing a pack of basic household items that help make a new beginning.

We also support other people in times of need, such as coming home from hospital or other emergency situation, if they are referred to us.

In order to be able to do this we arrange and attend fundraising events but cash donations are also most welcome. Any donation, no matter how small, enables us to buy new items we need to replenish stock.

For example -

£30 buys a set of small electrical items e.g. Kettle, Toaster and Iron

£150 funds a full starter pack

Cleaning materials and items such as toilet and kitchen rolls are also gratefully accepted.

Right now, we cannot accept donations of goods, but when it is possible we welcome offers of lightly-used or new items. Like most charities, we can't take used duvets or pillows.

Although we have many generous offers, we are unable to take any used electrical items or any furniture eg beds, sofas, tables etc.

Should you wish to pass on any of these items, you may want to contact some of the following:-

British Heart Foundation (bhf.org.uk or 0808 250 0030)

Blythswood Care ( info@blythswood.org or 01349 830777)
